Nella serie di libri regionali sui siti storici del Ladakh, il quarto volume "Siti storici di Nubra" si propone di identificare e documentare in modo completo i siti storici di Nubra, la regione più settentrionale del Ladakh e dell'intero paese. Fu notata nel XIX secolo dai primi esploratori per il suo ruolo di primo piano nel commercio tra il subcontinente e le oasi lungo le Vie della Seta del Bacino del Tarim (Khotan, Yarkand, ecc.). Questa indagine sui siti storici di Nubra sarà senza dubbio una risorsa importante per storici, architetti, ricercatori, studiosi, responsabili politici, ecc. e diventerà uno strumento fondamentale per preservare l'unicità del patrimonio culturale del Ladakh. L'attuale indagine di Nubra ha portato alla luce circa duecentosessantasette siti storici che comprendono monasteri, forti, chorten (stupa), incisioni rupestri, incisioni buddhiste, templi, grotte, ecc. L'indagine e la documentazione del sito sono state effettuate dal dott. Quentin Devers, ricercatore presso il Centro nazionale francese per la ricerca scientifica (CNRS) all'interno del Centro di ricerca sulle civiltà dell'Asia orientale (CRCAO) di Parigi.

In the series of the regional books on the historical sites of Ladakh, the fourth volume “Historical Sites of Nubra” is an effort to identify and comprehensively document the historical sites of Nubra, the northernmost region of Ladakh and of the country as a whole. It was noticed in the 19th century by the early explorers for its prime role in the trade between the subcontinent and the oases along the Silk Routes of the Tarim Basin (Khotan, Yarkand, etc). This survey of the historical sites of Nubra will undoubtedly be an important resource to historians, architects, researchers, scholars, policy makers, etc. and become an important tool in preserving the unique cultural heritage of Ladakh. The present survey of Nubra brought to light nearly two hundred sixty seven historical sites covering monasteries, forts, chortens (stupas), petroglyphs, Buddhist carvings, temples, caves, etc. The site survey and documentation was carried out by Dr Quentin Devers, a researcher at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) within the Research Centre for East Asian Civilizations (CRCAO), Paris. |
