Historical Sites of Purig
Una delle principali iniziative di INTACH è stata la catalogazione dei beni culturali non protetti in tutto il paese. Ad oggi, circa 60.000 beni sono stati catalogati da INTACH ed è un processo in corso. Questa pubblicazione "Siti storici di Purig" è un tentativo di identificare e documentare in modo completo i siti storici di Purig, la regione più occidentale del Ladakh che, insieme alla regione dello Zanskar, costituisce il distretto di Kargil. Questo sforzo ha portato alla luce quasi duecentocinquanta siti storici in questa regione. Le aree coperte sono Bod Kharbu-Chigtan, Wakha-Sod-Garkon, la valle settentrionale del Suru, la valle meridionale del Suru e la valle del Dras. La documentazione è frutto della collaborazione tra la cellula di catalogazione di INTACH e la sezione Ladakh di INTACH, ed è stata realizzata dal Dott. Quentin Devers, ricercatore presso il Centro Nazionale Francese per la Ricerca Scientifica presso il Centro di Ricerca sulle Civiltà dell'Asia Orientale di Parigi.

One of INTACH's major initiatives has been listing of unprotected heritage properties throughout the country. Till date, about 60,000 properties have been listed by INTACH and it is an ongoing process. This publication of "Historical Sites of Purig" is an effort to identify and comprehensively document the historic sites of Purig, the Westernmost region of Ladakh which together with the Zanskar region constitutes Kargil district. This endeavour brought to light nearly two hundred fifty historic sites in this region. The areas covered are Bod Kharbu- Chigtan, Wakha-Sod- Garkon, Northen Suru Valley, Southern Suru Valley, Dras Valley. The documentation is a collaborative effort of INTACH Listing Cell and INTACH Ladakh Chapter, which has been carried out by Dr Quentin Devers, a researcher at the French National Centre for Scientific Research in Research Centre for East Asian Civilizations, Paris. |
